Just Stop Oil Disrupting the M25

Just before Christmas Lisa Townsend, Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner, joined other senior policing leaders at a meeting with the Prime Minster at 10 Downing Street to discuss recent disruption on the M25.

Following the meeting, the Government has amended the Public Order Bill to give police more powers to deal with protestors who cause serious disruption. 

On the disruption and new measures, Lisa said

"I’m proud of the way Surrey Police officers and staff have handled protestors on our roads, and it is right that the government is working hard to ensure they have the powers they need going forwards."

"I’m pleased that the Prime Minister took our concerns and ideas on board and this new amendment to the Public Order Bill gives police more powers to deal with protestors causing danger and disruption to our roads and infrastructure."
